How do I obtain a quotation?

What information do I need for a buildings insurance
quotation?
To provide an accurate buildings insurance
quotation for your holiday home we will need to know the rebuild
costs of your building(s). This needs to include all outbuildings,
demolition costs, solicitors and surveyors fees. A guide for
calculating approximate rebuild costs of your building(s) can be
found by visiting
www.abi.org.uk/. Please note this
guide is for owners of UK holiday homes only and does not apply to
overseas property.
What information do I need for a contents quotation?
To provide an accurate contents quotation
for your holiday home we need to know the ‘new for old’ value of
all household goods within the property. Please note a wear and
tear deduction is made for clothing and linen.
Do I need public liability insurance?
Yes - your holiday home is
commercially let and public liability cover is essential to protect
against claims made for injury to a guest or damage to their
property. Our holiday cottage, overseas holiday home, long-term let
holiday home insurance policies provide public liability cover
of up to £5 million.
Are domestic staff covered by this insurance?
Yes, our holiday cottage, overseas holiday
home, long-term let holiday insurance policies provide
employers liability cover of up to £10million.
Is theft cover provided?
Full theft cover without the necessity of
security requirements is normally provided, including theft by the
guest. Please see the
policy summary for further
information.
What cover is provided when the property is unoccupied?
Full cover is provided subject to the
public services (gas/electric/water) being turned off and the water
system drained or a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13
degrees Centigrade) being maintained if the holiday home is
unoccupied for more than 7 days during the period 1st October -
31st March.
Am I covered for loss of income?
Yes - if your holiday home, overseas
holiday home, long-term let holiday home becomes uninhabitable due
to fire or certain other perils - our policy provides up to £25,000
cover for your loss of income.
How much do I have to pay in the event of a claim?
In the event of a claim you pay the first
£250 of each claim. This increases to £500 for water escape claims
and £1000 for subsidence claims. Increased excesses may be applied
depending on individual circumstances, for example in the case of a
poor claims history. This will be confirmed to you at the time of
the quotation.
Is there a no claims discount?
No claims discount for your holiday home,
overseas holiday home, long-term let holiday home can be built
up over a period of three years. We can also offer discount for
first time owners if you are claim free on your main home
insurance.
How quickly can I arrange cover?
Immediate cover can be arranged subject to
payment of premium.

Can I arrange short-term cover?
Unfortunately we cannot offer short-term
insurance cover. All of our holiday home policies are annual.

We accept payments via cheque, debit card,
credit card or by monthly direct debit. Please note additional
charges may occur when paying by credit card or monthly direct
debit.
